MK Personal Collection The present lot is part of a larger privately held collection and is intended for exhibition purposes only. Rare Men's 18K Yellow Gold Rolex GMT Master Wristwatch Ref 1675 Circa 1968. This is a fine men's 18K yellow gold Rolex wristwatch Ref 1675 in a three piece gold oyster case with a screw down water proof back (Serial # 2.338.042). It measures 47.00mm x 42.00mm including the crown. The watch has a high grade Swiss Rolex Cal., 1570 rhodium-plated 26 jewel automatic movement straight-line lever escapement, free-sprung monometallic balance adjusted to temperatures and 5 positions, self-compensating Breguet balance spring with microstella regulating screws Serial # D543,374 that is in good running condition. It is topped with a fantastic original brownish red "nipple" dial with luminous round, bâton and triangular indexes with outer minute/seconds divisions and aperture for the date at 3:00 three o'clock. Rolex launched the GMT-Master in 1954 in order to provide pilots a watch that could read 24 hour time for a selected time zone. Following the success of this model, in 1959 Rolex introduced its successor, the reference 1675, which Rolex produced until 1980. Rolex made a few different variations of the 1675, including one in all 18k gold with brown dial and brown dial; like the present example. This watch is in all-original condition and still retains the bevels on the case. Finding gold Rolex sport watches in this condition is getting harder each day.
