MK Personal Collection Super Rare Movado Ref 98159 Original Dial Chronograph Wristwatch with Francois Borgel Waterproof Steel Case Circa 1940. The watch features a two piece circular case signed on the inside back cover Movado with FB Makers Marks (Francois Borgel). It measures 35.50mm including the crown and pushers and 32.50mm without, 40.50mm in length lug to lug, 12.50mm thick. The watch has round waterproof pushers Serial # 98.159 and a high grade Swiss Movado Cal. 90 nickel-finished lever movement, 17 jewels with a lever bimetallic escapement that is in running condition. The chronograph buttons work "zeroing" the sweep second hand but the watch needs a complete overhaul. It is topped with a rare original silver painted dial with three large registers and outer 60 second telemetry. It is attached to a steel band. Movado earned a strong reputation for its chronograph movements, the 2-register caliber 90M and the 3-register caliber 95M. Both offer quirky function activation, starting and stopping with the lower pusher while the upper one resets; this charming mechanical difference is the exact opposite of most chronographs. The diameter of the case might be only 35mm, but it wears much larger thanks to its faceted lugs. And did we mention that it was manufactured by Taubert Freres (formerly Borgel), the casemaker of the grail Patek reference 1463
