Super NOS Rare Rolex Submariner Ref 5513 Glossy Dial Wristwatch Circa 1966. This is a very fine and rare men's circular wristwatch by Rolex Watch Co., Submariner Model Ref 5513 in a three piece steel case measuring 47.4mm x 43.0mm including the crown. Serial #1.392,123 stamped on the inside back cover 5513 1.66, featuring a rare original glossy dial in mint condition with luminous round triangular and baton indexes and luminous "skeleton" hands Cal 1520 rhodium-plated 26 jewel movement with a straight line lever escapement, nonometallic balance adjusted to five position and temperatures, shock absorber, self compensating Brequet balance spring. Microstella regulating screws in good running condition. The watch is in overall new/old stock condition. The oyster steel bracelet is stamped "1.66", This is a very rare watch in overall excellent condition. Introduced in 1962, the Rolex Submariner ref. 5513 and 5512 were the first Submariner models to feature crown guards, which gave the timepiece a completely different appeal whilst enhancing its robustness at the same time. Early examples of the reference were fitted with “glossy” lacquered dials with a short production span of approximately four years. In 1967, Rolex replaced its “glossy” lacquered dials with the more common matte dial. Admired and praised by collectors, these early examples are highly sought after and rare with varying dial examples commanding more than others.
