MK Personal Collection This watch is part of a larger privately held collection and is intended for exhibition purposes only. Rare Rolex James Bond Submariner Ref 6536/1 Wristwatch Circa 1957. The watch features an over sized steel three piece oyster case without crown guards and Rolex crown Ref 6536/1 Serial #306.811. It is framed with a bidirectional "ghost" bezel, Cal. 1030, rhodium-plated, 25 jewels Rolex movement with a straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance adjusted to 5 positions and temperature, shock absorber, self-compensating Breguet balance spring that is in good running condition Serial #743.033 . It is topped with a "tropical" light black painted dial with dot indexes and gilt gold hands (refinished but it must have been refinished more then 50 years ago because the dial is tropical). It is stamped on the inside back cover 6536/1 III.57. It is attached to a steel oyster link Rolex USA band that is stamped on the inside clasp "7-71". It measures 8" long including the watch head. The watch is in overall good condition. It does need an overhaul and polish. The reference 6536 was introduced in 1955, replacing the 6204 (launched the year prior alongside the 6205 and 6200). With a different movement, the caliber 1030, the case was slightly thinner and featured prominent bevels to the lugs. The crown of the 6538 was also enlarged to 8 mm, thus giving the model its nickname 'Big Crown' and differentiating it from the ref. 6536.
