MK Personal Collection Men's Steel Bucherer Super-Compressor Archimedes Wristwatch 30157 Circa 1965. This is a fine and rare, center-seconds, self-winding, water-resistant, stainless steel wristwatch with date and two crowns, measuring 41mm without the crowns. It has a two-body super-compressor construction with beveled straight lugs, screwed-down case back, original orange with luminous baton indexes, inner revolving 60-minute ring operated by crown at 2 o'clock, aperture for the date, inner 1/5 seconds and minute division with luminous steel baton hands, Cal. 2738 automatic movement with brushed decoration. The watch is a 17 jewels straight line lever escapement, monometallic balance, shock-absorbed and self-compensating flat balance spring. On the Inside case back it is engraved "Super-Compressor". The watch is in overall excellent condition. A Super Compressor is a very specific case designed and produced by Ervin Piquerez S.A. from the late 1950s into the early 1970s. It used water pressure to increase the water-resistance of the watch. The deeper the water, the more pressure and therefore the tighter the cases seal. This Super-Compressor case was waterproof up to 20ATM/Bar which is 200 meter or 660feet.
