MK Personal Collection Rare Early Gold LeCoultre Fancy Case Chronograph Wristwatch Cal. 281 Circa 1940's. The watch features a fantastic three piece circular solid 14K yellow gold case with applied stepped lugs measuring 35.00mm including the crown x 39.00mm lug to lug (Serial # 51099). It is signed on the inside back cover "LeCoultre Swiss" with factory hallmarks. The watch has a high grade Swiss Cal. 285 nickel plated 17 jewel movement that is signed LeCoultre. It has a straight line lever escapement, monometallic balance, self-compensating Breguet balance-spring that is in good running condition. The watch does need an overhaul. It is topped with an original exotic silver painted dial signed LeCoultre with oversized double registers and Arabic indexes, outer chapter telemetry. These early tiny chronographs were based on the Universal Geneve platform which was shared by many watch companies. This combination of a fancy solid gold case and original untouched dial really works with this gem of a watch. The watch is triple signed LeCoultre.
