Rare Rolex GMT Ref 1675 Gilt Dial, Cornino Pointed Crown Guards Circa 1963. This is a very rare Rolex and a true hard to fine Rolex GMT Master Ref 1675 wristwatch. The watch has pointed crown guards and an exotic gilt glossy dial in a three-body construction case, screwed-down case back engraved on the back IV.63, graduated bi-directional revolving "coca cola" bezel, including crown and crystal with "Cyclops" lens Serial #1.089.XXX. It has an exotic black glossy dial with luminous round, triangular and bâton indexes with outer gold painted minute track (small sun spots), aperture for the date at 3 o'clock, luminous steel "skeleton" hands that is in good condition, Cal. 1560 GMT rhodium-plated movement with 26 jewels, straight line lever escapement, monometallic balance adjusted to temperatures and 5 positions that is in good running condition (Serial #D13262). The watch is attached to a steel oyster Rolex bracelet Serial # 380 9315.
The present watch is a fine example of an early GMT Master ref. 1675, featuring an appealing black lacquered dial and the pointed crown guards. Subsequently produced ref. 1675 models are fitted with the matte dial and show the rounded shoulders. For this reason, the present model is also known as the "Cornino" or "small horn" GMT Master. The bezel has, with time, developed from a standard "blue/red" color scheme to tones of coral-orange and light-electric blue. Examples of the famous 1675-series from the sixties are the perfect combination of vintage look with a lot of charisma and great daily wearability.
