Men's Rolex GMT Master Steel Wristwatch Ref 1675 Circa 1966. This is a very fine example of a vintage Rolex GMT Master Ref 1675 from 1966 with an original dial. The watch has a three piece steel oyster case with a screw down waterproof back that is stamped on the back inside cover "1675 II.66, Ref 1675 Serial #1.428.896". The watch has a high grade Cal. 1570 rhodium-plated Rolex movement with 26 jewels, straight line lever escapement, monometallic balance adjusted to temperatures and 5 positions, shock-absorber, self-compensating free-sprung Breguet balance spring, Microstella regulating screws Serial # D100.888 that is in very good running condition. It is topped with an original black GMT Master dial and GMT hand. The watch is in overall very good condition.
Rolex launched the GMT-Master in 1954 in order to provide pilots a watch that could read 24 hour time for a selected time zone. Following the success of this model, in 1959 Rolex introduced its successor, the reference 1675, which Rolex produced until 1980. This example features a beautifully faded bezel that has turned light blue and a purple-ish color giving some uniqueness to this GMT. The movement is stamped "ROX" indicating it was made for the US market. The inside case back is stamped, “II 66,” indicating is it from the second quarter of 1966
