MK Personal Collection The present lot is part of a larger privately held collection and is intended for exhibition purposes only. This is a rare Air Force Rolex GMT Ref 1675 Tropical Gilt Dial with Pointed Crown Guards, Circa 1960. This is a very rare Rolex and a true hard to fine watch Rolex GMT Master Ref 1675, with pointed crown guards and a exotic tropical gilt dial. The watch looks beautiful, in a three-body construction case, screwed-down case back engraved on the back I.60 Serial #727.XXX. It has an exotic deep chocolate brown dial with luminous round, triangular and bâton indexes with outer gold painted minute track, aperture for the date at three o'clock. It has luminous steel "skeleton" hands in good condition (broken crystal), Cal. 1560 GMT rhodium-plated movement with 25 jewels, straight line lever escapement, monometallic balance adjusted to temperatures and 5 positions Serial #D75.XXX . The watch is in non running condition and would just need a simple overhaul. It is attached to a steel oyster Rolex U.S.A bracelet Stamped 1-60. It measures 7 1/2" long. The combination of an early pointed crown guards with a gild tropical dial is highly collectable and sought after by watch aficionados worldwide. This watch looks great and you won't be disappointed. The present watch is a highly attractive and very rare example of a reference 1675 dating from the 1960s, preserved in excellent, original overall condition. It is distinguished by the rare and much sought-after Tropical black gloss dial. The Glossy dials must be regarded as the ultimate art in dial manufacturing since they reveal a rich complexity of different layers applied to the metal base. In fact, the gilt writing and minute markings are not printed on the black background but are underneath and shine through in negative relief. However to further enhance its sophistication, the silvered underline is superimposed and printed onto the black background.
