MK Personal Collection - Rare Snowflake Tudor Prince Oyster Date Submariner Wristwatch 200m/660ft Case No. 935877 Ref. 9411/0 Case Made by Rolex Geneva Circa 1977. This is a men's steel wristwatch in a waterproof oyster case. It measures 48mm x 43mm including the crown. (Serial # 935877 Ref. 94110). The watch has a Cal. 2784 nickel plated 17 jewel automatic movement signed Tudor Auto-Prince. The watch is in good running condition and it is topped with an original blue snowflake dial with matching hands both with original lume. It is framed with a bidirectional bezel with matching blue insert. The watch is accompanied with a steel Rolex modern replacement band. As you can see from the photos the watch is on overall excellent condition.
Tudor introduced the distinctive Snowflake handset in its 1969 catalog with the references 7016 and 7021. Accordingly, the indexes on the dial took the square shape you see here, which differentiated this Sub even more from its Rolex-born siblings. A few other design peculiarities further set the Tudor Submariner apart, including the existence of a blue configuration (dial and bezel), and for the version with date, a lower magnification and different font for the date disc. The following generation, the references 9401/0 and 9411/0, luckily kept these unique attributes which explains the popularity they now enjoy. It might have looked different than a Rolex Submariner (and be priced lower) but it was no less tough, explaining why the French Marine Nationale trusted these diving watches for more than 20 years.
