Rare Men's Steel 3, 6, 9 Minute Register Chronograph Wristwatch By Jaeger Circa 1941. The watch features a fine three piece steel case that measures 35mm x 41.25mm in length (Serial # 625.901 Ref 5185). The watch has a high grade Swiss nickel plated 17 jewel movement, Cal 285 signed Jaeger on the bridge. The movement is in non running condition and it will need an overhaul in order to keep accurate time. This series of caliber movements produced by Universal Geneve for Jaeger was considered the gold standard in Swiss time keeping and reliability in the field which is a rare combination treasured by collectors to this day. The watch is topped with an original silver painted dial with double registers. The chronograph minutes counter features three longer markers indicating the 3,6,9 elapsed minutes, found on some chronograph dials and used at a time when calls in Europe were billed in three-minute increments. It is topped with a center Jaeger signature, the collaboration between Paris-based Edmond Jaeger and LeCoultre led to their official merger in 1937. During their early years watches with only the LeCoultre name on the dial were sold to the American market and it is believed the more uncommon watches with only Jaeger on the dial were sold to the French and Italian markets.
